Talent Associate (Location Flexible)

The location for this position is flexible with a preference for the following locations: Bay Area/Oakland CA, Los Angeles CA, New York NY, Washington D.C., or Atlanta GA.

The high level:

We are seeking a people-oriented team player to join the Talent team and support our 12 regions, across the country, to ensure a healthy and productive staff experience. The ideal person for this role is dynamic and able to represent Reading Partners internally and externally with excellent project management skillset. The Talent Associate will report to the National Director of Talent.

What you’ll do:

Talent Operations (80%)

  • Assist with staff and Literacy Intervention Tutor (LIT) recruitment efforts for a broad range of roles across the organization, including job posting, resume review, ad hoc phone screening, interview coordination, facilitation of debriefs, to accepted/signed offer. 
  • Collaborate with the Talent team to develop templates and evergreen documents that can be used for the talent acquisition process. Continually offer refinements and enhancements that lead to better outcomes.
  • Update and centralize recruitment resources on intranet to ensure a quality candidate experience. 
  • Assist HR team by promoting all processes and protocols to ensure smooth hiring and onboarding of staff. To that end, create and send accurate offer letters and also initiate onboarding paperwork for new hires.
  • Research and build a recruitment resource database and best practices library. 
  • Partner with the National Director of Talent to ensure a positive and active Employer Brand, social media impact.
  • Assist with a full audit of recruiting and hiring practices to ensure they’re inclusive, equitable, and consistent.
  • Support Talent & Equity Team in building a comprehensive job catalog library and manage tracking system for job requisition requests (from fielding requests to job posting).
  • Managing inquiries and requests in the Talent & Equity inbox Support staff on-boarding process, personnel file audits, background checks, etc. 
  • You may be asked to support with ad hoc reports, as needed.
  • Support talent operations, including employee status change requests across the organization.

Talent Development & Retention (20%)

  • Execute on current strategies that support all of our full-time staff experience and learning at Reading Partners.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of engagement survey results.
  • Support facilitation and preparation logistics for quarterly training sessions, including research, staff correspondence, and meeting logistics
  • As appropriate, provide onboarding support.
  • Work with the Talent & Equity team to project manage the execution of the performance review cycle (first 90 days, middle and end of year reviews).

  • Professionalism: Responds to stress in a professional manner and remains efficient and effective in high stress situations (tight deadlines, hostile individuals, emergency situations, etc.). Maintains the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.

  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. This is a part-time (up to 20 hours per week), non-exempt, hourly position with an end date in June 2022. Pay for this role is up to $25.00 an hour.

The other things you need to know:

  • Typical Physical & Mental Demands: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching, and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate with volunteers and staff. Also requires flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
